Books: A Cup of Kindness. Stories from Scotland, by Jennifer Bassett

This is a collection of 5 stories, all set in Scotland. The first one is about a Jewish man with a sad past who tries to save a bird; the second one, in the outer Hebrides, is about how three tight-fisted men who cheat an honest shoemaker; the third one takes place in Orkey, where an old seaman looks for a mysterious woman around the island; the fourth is set in Edinburgh, where a man tells us how a perfect robbery turned into a huge disaster; finally, the fifth story tells the story of a woman who was in love with Sean Connery, and how she met him.

Rubén Díaz (NI1-A) read the book and he thought it was "readable". His favourite character is Marina, a friendly and attractive woman who likes old men. She thinks they are more interesting than young ones. She is clever and extrovert, so she manages to meet with Sean Connery, according to her "the perfect old man".
